    • Stonepocket’s ‘Know What you Grow’ is finally here! This feature our of website, features a full searchable database of Minnesota hardy plants. Know What You Grow is our way to share knowledge of plants available to Minnesota gardeners.

    • Stonepocket awarded an Excellence in
    Design Award

Stonepocket received its first award at the 2006
Green Expo from the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association, a Merritt award for Excellence in Landscape Design.

The design intent was to increase the client’s used outdoor living space for dining and entertaining purposes. A large oval patio was created using a mocha color Dynasty concrete paving stones. Keeping the colors of the hardscapes in the tan range helped to bring the house, patio, and wall together creating a more relaxed space. The knee-wall follows the oval edge of the patio and was built to serve as additional seating for large functions. Lit pillars built into the wall allow for extended use of the patio into the evening hours.

Looking out away from the house between two pillars is the fire-pit, restored native oak savanna and lake. The fire-pit is complete with seating options on the adirondack chairs or the boulders the family imported from a family farm in Iowa. Sedum was planted in the gravel floor at the base of the boulders to added accent.

The patio and fire-pit provide the family with expanded opportunity to be outdoors enjoying the views of the lake and restored native oak savanna.
